Derek Williams named Oracle chairman for Asia

Oracle Corp, the world's third- largest software maker, named Derek Williams as its chairman for Asia.

SINGAPORE: Oracle Corp, the world's third- largest software maker, named Derek Williams as its chairman for Asia.
In another appointment, Brian Mitchell was named as Oracle's senior vice president of Asia Pacific, which excludes Japan, the Redwood City, California-based company said on Friday.
Mitchell was previously senior vice president for mergers and acquisitions in Asia and managing director for Oracle Australia and New Zealand.
Williams joined Oracle in the UK in 1988 and moved to Singapore in April 1991 to head the Asia unit. He retains his title of executive vice president.
“We spent the last 15 years building an Asia Pacific and Japan business that generated 1.7 billion dollar in revenue in fiscal 2005,'' Williams said. “Our new management team has the experience and enthusiasm to build an even more successful business for Oracle in years to come.''
