INDORE: An honorary doctorate degree conferred on Satyam Computer's tainted founder B Ramalinga Raju by the Devi Ahilyabai Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV) has been withdrawn by the DAVV following his alleged involvement in the Rs 7,800 crore Satyam scam.

The process to withdraw the degree conferred on Raju was intitiated soon after his arrest in the multi-crore scam, DAVV sources said today.

The name of Raju has already been deleted from the list of persons honoured with an honorary doctorate degree, they said.

Probably, this is the first incident of its kind in the history of DAVV when an honorary degree conferred on someone was withdrawn by the university.

The university awarded the honorary degree to Raju in absentia about two years back.

Raju had admitted on January 7 this year that he manipulated the company's accounts to the tune of Rs 7,800 crore following which he was arrested.
