A total of 25,000 employees is what Infosys is looking at for hiring over the year since the subsidiaries are going to net themselves and not drag on the parent.

The company is pursuing 12 large deals and is also looking at smaller acquisitions. This quarter, however, Progeon added only about 1,000 people. Spelling out the HR plans, Mohandas Pai said that Infosys was going to be a goal-based organisation.

As far as good resources are concerned, he said that today it is not a demand-constrained market but a resource-constrained market. Good people are going to be hot as the industry hires relentlessly. Fresh recruitments are not to have an impact on the margins.

Pai said that the idea was to make the company into a people-oriented company and sent out a strong message-`Come Home to Mama'--Come join Infosys. He also agreed to the fact that attrition rate was very high and remained a big challenge for the company.
