Client spending to be better in next financial year: TCS

TCS CEO, Chandrasekaran said so far there has been no business impact from the political unrest in the Middle East and North Africa.

BANGALORE: Country's largest software firm Tata Consultancy Services' chief executive said he expects client spends to be better in the next fiscal year that begins in April.

N. Chandrasekaran, who is also the managing director of the technology firm, said so far there has been no business impact from the political unrest in the Middle East and North Africa.

TCS, whose clients include Citigroup and General Electric, posted a market beating 30-percent rise in quarterly profit in January as it saw the highest client additions in seven quarters.

On Tuesday, TCS said it bagged a IT infrastructure deal from Dutch technical consultancy firm Royal Haskoning. The services include a multi-lingual service desk, data centre hosting and management, end-user computing services, application support services and transformation solutions, it added. But it did not say anything about the exact amount involved in the deal.

Consulting firm Deloitte said that the Indian IT industry will add over 2.25 lakh employees in 2011 and will clock revenues of $71.7 billion by the end of the year.

Deloitte expects a higher growth in revenues from European and Asian markets compared to the traditional North American market this year.

It also added that the under-penetrated SME (small and medium enterprises) space will emerge as a "significant opportunity" in 2011.
