NEW DELHI: Networking major Cisco Systems India, leading IT company Wipro and three other firms have won award for taking initiatives to empowere people with disabilities at workplace.

The awards were given at two-day ASIAPAC Region Disability Matters Conference organised by Springboard Consulting in Bangalore on September 17 and 18.

Accenture, MindTree Limited and Thomson Reuters are the other three companies that bagged the award which recognises a company's mentor programmes and awareness initiatives for differently abled workforce. Springboard Consulting is recognised as a global expert on mainstreaming disability in the corporate world.

Four companies -- AXA Life Insurance, Deutsche Bank Group, Goldman Sachs Services India, Uniqlo/Fast Retailing -- bagged 'Workforce Award' for initiatives that touch on recruiting, training, and reasonable accommodations.
