The Central Bureau of Investigation has sought time till 8 October from the Lower Court in Hyderabad to file a counter petition objecting to Ramalinga Raju's petition seeking bail.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has sought time till 8 October from the Lower Court in Hyderabad to file a counter petition objecting to Ramalinga Raju's petition seeking bail.

The CBI told the court that it was unable to file objections as its investigating officer was not present. Ramalinga Raju was shifted from Chanchalguda prison to the Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences after he complained of heart attack last month.

Raju was lodged in Chanchalguda prison in January 9 this year, two days after he confessed to perpetrating a Rs 7,000 crore fraud at Satyam.

Several applications for bail were rejected by the lower court and the Andhra Pradesh High Court. But Raju had no complaints of ill-health over the last seven months or so.

The CBI, which filed a charge-sheet, also moved a petition to conduct lie detector and polygraph tests. But Raju moved a counter petition challenging the validity of these tests. A lie detector test cannot be conducted on a person who has a critical ailment.
