Bangalore readies for IT conclave

The ninth edition of the annual IT event will be inaugurated on Friday by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.

BANGALORE: It’s that time of the year again when the whole of Bangalore gets ready to put its best ‘IT’ foot forward. And this year, it is not accompanied by any boycott threats by IT companies complaining about the city’s infrastructure woes or rains. We are talking about Bangalore IT.in 2006 which is all set to fire off from October 28-31. The ninth edition of the annual IT event will be inaugurated on Friday by chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.

With intellectual property and innovation becoming keywords in the IT industry, a special pavilion this year is the IP Zone. Around 14 companies including ASL Advanced Systems, Broadcom, GloNetworks, Ittiam, Mistral Software, nCore Technologies, netDevices, NXP, Rambus, SiNett, SiRF, Tejas and Xora will be participating in the IP Zone to showcase their company and products. The theme for the IP Zone is Innovative India and on display will be products developed by these companies or their customers that incorporate IP created in India.

According to STPI director BV Naidu, “Some of the companies – both Indian and multinational – are engaged in developing and commercialising IP in India. IP Zone is an initiative to create a supportive ecosystem within India for the growth of high technology companies developing products and IP.”
