MUMBAI: Backed by CommonFloor.com, the home rentals and roommate-finder app Flatchat is foraying in Singapore. The mobile-based platform that helps students and bachelors find accommodation and flat-mates has been re-designed for the Singapore market, and is expected to be publicly available to users by November 2015, the company said in a release.

Singapore is the fourth-largest financial centre in the world, with a high population density comprising a large community of Indian expats. Additionally, the island city-state receives thousands of students from across the world every year. Singapore will be the entry point for Flatchat’s expansion to international territories, the release added.

Launched in 2014 by Gaurav Munjal and Hemesh Singh, Flatchat connects the prospective accommodation seeker with home owners or potential flat-mates. Within a year of its inception, Flatchat claims, it has established a user base of more than 150,000 in India.
