Assembly debate on Satyam-Maytas fraud: 15 MLAs suspended

Fifteen MLAs belonging to opposition parties were suspended for the day from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly today as they demanded continuation of the debate on Satyam-Maytas scandal.

HYDERABAD: Fifteen MLAs belonging to opposition parties were suspended for the day from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly today as they demanded continuation of the debate on Satyam-Maytas scandal.

The House that assembled for the evening session proceeded to take up discussion on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address.

The opposition members, however, demanded that the inconclusive debate on Satyam-Maytas issue be continued but Speaker K R Suresh Reddy said it could be taken up on Tuesday after the Question Hour.

As the opposition members persisted with their demand, Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved a resolution for suspension of 10 TDP, three CPM and one CPI MLAs from the House for the day.

The motion was carried through voice vote. The opposition MLAs then staged a protest at the Assembly entrance and deplored the government's attitude.
