AP's software developed for NRDGS bags international award
The software developed for the implementation of National Rural Development Guarantee Scheme (NRDGS) in Andhra Pradesh has bagged the International Stockholm Challenge Award for the year 2008.

HYDERABAD: The software developed for the implementation of National Rural Development Guarantee Scheme (NRDGS) in Andhra Pradesh has bagged the International Stockholm Challenge Award for the year 2008.
The Award was presented to K Raju, Principal Secretary (Rural Development) of the State government at a function held at Stockholm yesterday, an official release said today.
The NREGS is being run through specially designed software to make the NREGS system more accountable and transparent, to minimize corruption and to minimize time duration for various processes.
Transactions like generation of job cards, estimates for works, work commencement letters, pay orders for wages and material procurements, wage slips are being carried out by using this software. The entire MIS has been in built in the software.
The NREGS software was developed around two years ago as soon as the NREGS was launched in the state. During the last two years, 95 lakh individuals from 59 lakh families have been benefitted by this scheme.
As on today, 3.69 lakhs of works were completed and another 3.49 lakhs of works are in progress. The total worth of all these works is estimated at Rs 6,635 crore. An amount of Rs 2,640 crores was spent on wages.
The Software was developed by Tata Consultancy Services in coordination with Rural Development Department, the release added.
