Andhra court defers SEBI's plea to question Rajus

Legal hurdles are far from over for Sebi which is probing into the financial fraud at Satyam Computer Services.

HYDERABAD: Legal hurdles are far from over for Sebi which is probing into the financial fraud at Satyam Computer Services. The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday deferred its order on Sebis plea to interrogate Raju and his brother Rama Raju, saying the order cannot be passed until the accused contest the market regulators plea before court.

It would serve a notice directing the superintendent of Chanchalguda jail, where the Rajus are lodged, asking them to respond to Sebis plea.

The writ petition filed by Sebi in the court, seeking to record the statements of the Raju brothers, is now posted for hearing for February 9. Sebis advocate, solicitor-general Goolam E Vahanvati, had filed a petition in HC seeking an ex-parte interim order to be passed for handing over Ramalinga Raju and Rama Raju into Sebis custody.
