Your YouTube content will have to pass Wipro muster

BENGALURU: IT major Wipro has recently received a project to provide content management services to the Google-owned YouTube, at a time when the video-streaming site ramps up its efforts to monitor its platform, said people aware of the matter.

The content management services will involve removal of posts involving pornography, incitement to violence, harassment, or hate speech.

A group of people manually moderates videos on YouTube or remove them if they violate the community guidelines. YouTube also makes use of machine-learning algorithms to execute the first level of filtering on the site, which nearly has two billion monthly loggedin users. When contacted by ET, a Wipro spokesperson said, the company does not comment on specific client engagements.


While Google has updated guidance to creators about policies on custom thumbnails, external links, and pranks and challenges; it now prohibits content that “encourages dangerous activities that are likely to result in serious harm.”
