Wipro's Tarang Lab and CSA to provide testing service in India

BANGALORE: IT major Wipro Technologies today said its product qualification and compliance lab Tarang and Canada-based testing, certification and standards development organisation CSA Group will collaborate for providing localized testing and certification services in India.

"Wipro is excited about becoming a testing and certification laboratory for CSA Group in India and Asia.

This close association with CSA Group makes Wipro's Tarang Lab a testing powerhouse providing product compliance testing and certification," Vasudevan Aghoramoorthy, Vice President, Semiconductor and System Solutions, Wipro Technologies said in a statement.

The agreement with CSA Group will enable Wipro to provide compliance testing and certification services to companies developing products in India for international markets in diverse fields namely information technology, medical, test and measurement, laboratory and industrial control equipment.

In a typical product development cycle where the testing and certification takes around 6 to 12 weeks, the Wipro-CSA collaboration will help product companies speed up the product testing and certification by 20-30 per cent, the statement said.

"This agreement with Wipro will serve to further enhance CSA Group's business in Asia by establishing a presence in one of the most high-tech testing laboratories available not only in India but internationally," said Ash Sahi, President and CEO, CSA Group.

According to a United Nations Industrial Development Organization report, entitled Yearbook of Industrial Statistics 2010, India is one of the top ten manufacturing economies in industrial production.

The Wipro-CSA agreement minimizes the need for Indian customers to ship products elsewhere for compliance testing.
