Wipro's Rishad Premji gets a berth at Nasscom

BANGALORE: Rishad Premji, chief strategy officer of Wipro’s IT business and the son of company chairman Azim Premji, has booked a berth on the Nasscom executive council, which is set to unveil a new 18-member team next week.

This will be the younger Premji’s first big role outside Wipro, to help manage India’s over $100 billion IT services industry.

Wipro nominated Rishad in place of the company CEO TK Kurien, who, incidentally, failed to attend a single executive council meeting last year.

The company insiders said it was a “conscious decision’’ to nominate Rishad as Nasscom was an ideal platform to groom Rishad for his next orbit of growth. HCL Technologies’ new CEO Anant Gupta and Capgemini India head Aruna Jayanthi are also among the new-look Nasscom council.
