Wipro to start recruitment centres for BPO business
In a bid to lower recruitment costs and attract talent, Wipro has decided to set up recruitment hubs across India for its BPO operations.
The company intends to roll out 25-30 such centres over the next two years which are slated to contribute 20-25% of its manpower requirement.
Wipro BPO will also set up such hubs in markets from where it recruits heavily and may not run a delivery centre. Incidentally, the company plans to recruit 5,000 people over the next two years in India.
It has manpower strength of 20,000 people across its eight facilities in India. “These centres will be a one-stop shop where a candidate will know about a BPO career, take an interview and walk out with a job offer. We will also offer induction training for fresh recruits in these facilities,” Wipro BPO vice president (people supply chain & employee branding) V Anandkumar told ET.

As per the company’s gameplan, each centre will be spread over 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft in the heart of the city, preferably near the academic area. “This will help us to directly reach the candidates and create awareness. The first such centre will come up within a month’s time in Pune near Fergusson College,” said Mr Anandkumar.
Other locations in the fray include Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Guwahati and even Tier II and III markets. “We are evaluating locations like Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Coimbatore, Ranchi and Shirpur. These markets are turning into a goldmine for talent and will help us build the Wipro brand,” said Mr Anandkumar.
