BENGALURU: After naming TCS veteran Abid Ali Neemuchwala as its COO, India's third largest software exporter Wipro has created a new business division that will focus on analytics.

Wipro's current head of advanced technologies Jeffrey Heenan-Jalil will oversee this this business, which will be created effective April 1.

With the creation of this business, Wipro is effectively replacing the advanced technologies service line.

“Wipro will create a new Analytics business unit effective April 1, replacing the Advanced Technologies & Solutions service-line, as it exists today. This new business will address all aspects of AI, Machine Learning Advanced Analytics, Data and Information management and Big Data platforms. The focus will be to provide solutions and services across these themes, enabling clients to take informed business decisions," said Heenan-Jalil in a statement from Wipro.

"This is in line with our company’s vision to automate, simplify and scale. Plans are under way to train ~15,000 people in technologies supporting Analytics," he added.
