West Bengal to miss its IT recruitment target of 20K in financial year 2008-09 in the aftermath of global recessionary trends.

KOLKATA: West Bengal to miss its IT recruitment target of 20K in financial year 2008-09 in the aftermath of global recessionary trends.

It expects to achieve a maximum level of 10,000 in terms of fresh IT hirings in the current fiscal.

The Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee government is in talks with some of the biggest IT firms in the Kolkata's Sector V tech town, urging them not to retrench local staff. Some of the leading IT biggest players operating in Kolkata's Salt Lake Electronics Complex are TCS, IBM, Wipro, Cognizant and Acclaris.
