KOLKATA: West Bengal Industry Minister ParthaChatterjee today said he would talk to Infosys Vice-Chairman Kris Gopalakrishnan about the company's proposed Kolkata project, which has remained a non-starter due to stand-off concerning SEZ status for over two years.

To a query about the Infosys project, Chatterjee said: "I will meet him ( Kris Gopalakrishnan)."

The Minister refused to answer a specific query on whether any alternate plan has been finalised.

Infosys has proposed to open a campus in Kolkata for which it obtained 50 acres.

In March, the IT major had said it will weigh options, including making the proposed West Bengal campus into a domestic development centre, after the state denied it the SEZ status with the assurance of alternate benefits.

The IT major's main revenue still comes from overseas and hence Infosys has been seeking SEZ status for sake of competitiveness.
