Technopark gets going on Phase III expansion

The state government-promoted Technopark here has added momentum to its Phase III development with the establishment of a power sub-station in the Phase III campus.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government-promoted Technopark here has added momentum to its Phase III development with the establishment of a power sub-station in the Phase III campus. Officials said the sub station would cater to power requirements of IT companies in both Phase II and III campuses, including the Infosys facility coming up at the Phase II campus.

Kerala IT secretary Ajay Kumar said there was constant emphasis on seamlessly keeping businesses operating round the clock by providing robust infrastructure and connectivity, and that the new sub station was a step in that direction. He said availability of quality power was one of the advantages highlighted by Technopark and there was emphasis on living up to that promise.

Technopark CEO Mervin Alexander the power station would add momentum to Technopark���s Phase III development, being implemented as an IT/ITES special economic zone over 92 acres, making Technopark a 10 million sq ft technology park. Work on construction of the 1 million sq ft IT building with green technology is expected to start in October.

Spread over nearly 300 acres with 4 million sq ft of built-up space, Technopark presently hosts over 150 IT and ITES companies, together employing over 20,000 IT professionals.
