TCS targets $1 billion revenue from France in 5 years

MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services wants to become a top-5 player in France within the next five years and make $1 billion in revenue from that market, India’s largest IT services company told analysts at a meeting in Paris, as it continues to target expansion in Europe.

Krishnan Ramanujam, global head and vice-president of enterprise solutions at the company, gave the keynote speech at the analyst event, detailing TCS’ plans for Europe.

It has about 1,400 consultants in France and is looking to recruit graduates in that market and send them for training in India, TCS said. It has 2,200 consultants in the Nordics, 10,000 in the UK, 400 in Iberia and 100 in Italy.

“Aggressive growth target for TCS in France: top 10 within three years, top 5 within five years reach ~$1bn in revenues!” Dominique Raviart, analyst at advisory and research firm NelsonHall, tweeted from the meeting. Raviart said also the company was training its offshore employees at French language training school Alliances Francaises in India. ET had reported in November that IT companies like TCS were training their Indian employees in languages such as French, Spanish and Japanese as they aim to expand further in those markets.

The company is also looking at acquisitions in Germany and potentially in the Nordic countries, Raviart tweeted.

TCS declined to comment on the information given to the analysts at the closed-door briefing in Paris. France is one of TCS' largest markets in Europe.
