TCS sets up BPO in Philippines

Top software exporter Tata Consultancy Services has set up a facility in the Philippines, following the path of many India-based BPO firms, which already have operations there.

MUMBAI: Top software exporter Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has set up a facility in the Philippines, following the path of many India-based BPO firms, which already have operations there.

The facility, located at Manila, will give TCS access to a pool of skilled BPO talent available in Philippines, the world’s largest BPO destination after India.

The BPO sector is a $9 billion industry in the Philippines, employing around 450,000 people. By 2016, it is projected to grow to around $ 25 billion, according to the Business Process Association of the Philippines. The TCS centre will have a capacity for around 400 employees.

“TCS wants to participate wherever there is a market and wherever there is talent. China and Philippines are two countries where talent is available,” said Vish Iyer, head, Asia-Pacific, TCS.
