TCS says getting involved in larger digital deals
BENGALURU: India’s largest IT services company Tata Consultancy Services is banking heavily on its digital business to power future growth, the company’s chief said on Tuesday even as it missed analyst expectations.

TCS Chief N Chandrashekaran said on Tuesday that it has started moving from smaller digital projects like building mobile apps to “end-to-end digital transformation” for its customers.

“We are no longer looking at signing deals like building a mobile application that are $100,000 or half a million. We are getting involved in large end to end transformational projects. That will play over multiple quarters or years,” he said.

The company’s digital business, where it provides services and platforms in newer areas such as mobile and cloud computing, has grown from 12.5 % of the total business in the previous quarter to 13.3% this quarter.

The company plans to train 100,000 employees in digital technologies, a space in which customer demand has been increasing, ET reported in June. “Our digital learning platform has been successfully launched and already 30,000 employees have taken this course,” said Chandrasekaran on Tuesday.
