TCS issues digital signature certificates

TCS becomes the first Certifying Authority in India to issue more than 2,00,000 digital signature certificates.

HYDERABAD: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has become the first Certifying Authority in India to issue more than 2,00,000 digital signature certificates.

TCS Certifying Authority was the first to cross the 100,000 mark in February and is the largest is terms of number of certificates issued, the company said today.

The achievement is also due to various initiatives by the government, including the MCA 21 programme, it said, adding the number of certificates issued to MCA 21 users alone was in excess of 1,50,000.

"The 2,00,000 landmark reflects the trust and confidence enjoyed by the TCS Certifying Authority among our subscriber base, Registration Authorities and Subordinate Certifying Authorities under the TCS-CA Trust Network," TCS Global head of Information Risk Management Kamlesh Bajaj said.

A part of the Tata Group, India's largest industrial conglomerate, TCS has over 89,000 trained IT consultants in 47 countries.

TCS' Advanced Technology Centre at Hyderabad had conceptualised and led the R&D initiative to develop Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) products like digital signatures since 2000.
