TCS CEO N Chandrasekaran receives 60% hike in salary
BANGALORE: TCS has rewarded its chief executive with a 60% hike in salary, thereby making N Chandrasekaran the highest-paid CEO among the country's information technology companies, reports Our Bureau. Chandrasekaran earned Rs 18.7 crore for the year 2013-14, as against Rs 11.7 crore in the year-ago period, according to TCS’ annual report filed on Tuesday.

The country’s largest software company’s reward to its top boss underlines the impressive growth recorded by the Mumbai-based company. For fiscal year 2014, TCS’ revenue growth beat Nasscom’s growth target and managed to expand its topline by 16%. TCS follows the trend for the year set by two other Bangalore-based software exporters, Infosys and Wipro which too gave impressive salary hikes to its top bosses.

Last month, ET reported that Wipro CEO TK Kurien’s salary crossed the million-dollar mark for the first time, in a sign that the company continued to back his turnaround plans. Wipro's CEO TK Kurien saw his pay, including benefits, increase from $888,228 in fiscal year 2012-13 to $1.1 million by the end of March this year, mainly on account of rise in variable pay component.
