MUMBAI: Professional certification provider Simplilearn has tied up with analytics software maker Tableau to create 200,000 data scientists in the country by 2020.

The partnership is aimed at getting people trained data science and analytics through instructor-led training, e-learning, and industry projects.

Globally there is a tremendous shortage of data scientists as data analytics takes off. According to research firm IDC, the global business analytics market generated $37.7 billion in 2013 and is estimated to grow to around $59.2 billion by 2018.

“Big Data, Advanced Analytics and Business Intelligence together form the 3 pillars of the analytics industry and Tableau is a leader in the BI domain. Together, we’re confident about setting an ambitious mission of creating a large talent pool of over 200,000 Data Scientists by 2020,” Ankur Arora, category head at Simplilearn, said in a statement.

Data scientists are greatly sought after by IT firms and receive the highest hikes, recruiters have said.
