BENGALURU: Enterprise software maker Salesforce.com said the company has hired a “handful” of senior strategists, consultants and researchers from India to be a part of its design-thinking division Ignite.

The design-thinking and consulting practice is said to play a major role in propelling Salesforce to its goal of $20 billion in revenue. The software company reported revenues of $10.54 billion for the financial year ended 2018.

“In the last couple of months we have made significant investments in our design thinking team Ignite in India. We have hired some key people onto the elite (Ignite) team in India,” said Sunil Jose, vice president and country leader, Salesforce India.

Ignite was Incubated in the US in 2012 on the backdrop of the rise of digital disruptors like Uber and Airbnb, with the vision to explore ways to transform Salesforce for the digital era. The practice started off with working with a select set of customers to refine thinking around digital and create unique customer experiences.

The success of Ignite customers resulted in the growth in size and popularity of this practice. Six months ago, Ignite was introduced in India, one of its fastest growing markets, to help Indian companies in their digital transformation journey.
