Rolta acquires geo-imaging licenses from PCI Geomatics

Rolta, which offers geo-spatial and IT solutions, has acquired geo-imaging technology used in earth imaging, remote sensing and related geopositioning solutions from Canada-based PCI Geomatics Enterprises.

MUMBAI: Rolta, which offers geo-spatial and IT solutions, has acquired geo-imaging technology used in earth imaging, remote sensing and related geopositioning solutions from Canada-based PCI Geomatics Enterprises.

In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange ( BSE), the company said it has acquired licenses of PCI's geo-imaging technologies, including source code, design and software architecture, exclusively for India and non-exclusively throughout the rest of the world.

"This acquisition will enable us to offer end-to-end solutions to our customers globally for applications in mapping and earth sciences," Rolta Chairman and CEO KK Singh said. However, Singh did not provide any financial details about the new deal.

With this acquisition, Rolta will now be able to offer solutions for processing stereo and mono satellite imagery in areas like environmental modeling, forestry and natural resources, emergency planning and management, agriculture, security and defence.

The Mumbai-headquartered firm offers mapping and related applications, while PCI has installed base of 400 licenses in India and over 21,000 licenses in more than 135 countries.
