Qualcomm partners Sesame Workshop India for radio project

'There would be a broadcast on community radio 'Gurgaon ki Awaaz', which can be accessed by these families through their handsets itself.'

NEW DELHI: Mobile chip maker Qualcomm today said it has partnered with Sesame Workshop India to provide educational experiences to children of migrant populations in Gurgaon through the use of community radio and mobile phones.

"Under the pilot initiative, 10 families have been given Android-based handsets with a 'Galli Galli Sim Sim' application, using which the members can access the educational content from Sesame," Sesame Workshop India Trust Managing Trustee Sashwati Banerjee said.

Also, there would be a broadcast on community radio 'Gurgaon ki Awaaz', which can be accessed by these families through their handsets itself, she added.

Started in the 1960s, Sesame Street is an American children's television series, which uses Muppets, animation, short films, and cultural references to deliver educational content. The concept is now available in over 140 countries and is available as 'Galli Galli Sim Sim' in India.
