BANGALORE: Philips IT, the technology wing of electronics major Philips, on Thursday opened its Business Application Services (P-BAS) centre in Bangalore that would focus on growth in technical and functional SAP competencies.

The centre at the Philips Innovation Campus would be involved in high-end work and play a key role in IT solutions and IT service delivery for Philips worldwide. It would continue to work with the existing vendor base, its top executives told a press meet here.

The P-BAS centre in Bangalore would have 150 employees by the end of the year, Sathyanarayanan Balasubramanian, Head, P-BAS, said.

P-BAS CEO Andreas Schumm said Philips was committed to making Bangalore a global sourcing centre for business application services.

The centre here would provide Enterprise Resource Planning services to Philips Product Divisions and Philips partners and support the various business lines and service lines within P-BAS centre in Eindhoven.
