Pune headquartered Persistent Systems has been appointed by the Ohio Department of Commerce to design and build the elicensing system for tracking various industry licenses required by the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program. The system, expected to go live in early 2018, will integrate with the State’s larger eLicensing platform as well as the State’s payment gateway (CBOSS). Persistent will leverage its collaborative development center in Dublin, Ohio to set up the team.

Sudhir Kulkarni, President Digital at Persistent Systems said, "The eLicensing platform is another great example of how smart government initiatives are embracing digital transformation for more efficient workflow. It also shows the high level of integration required to work alongside other existing systems and how an agile and innovative approach to development can bring speed to even the most stringent programs of the state.”

In an email statement, the Ohio Department of Commerce said, the seed-to-sale system is mandated by House Bill 523, the enabling legislation for the Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program. The eLicensing system will be used to track licensees and their employees and was selected after a competitive bid process.
