NEW DELHI: NComputing, a desktop virtualization company that offers mobility solutions to organizations, is banking on Narendra Modi’s pet projects - Digital India and Smart City - for growth and said it could contribute to both initiatives in a cost and energy efficient manner.

The US-headquartered company is already working closely with various state governments and many non-government agencies to facilitate digitization in the country with their affordable computing solutions, and is primarily working in the education space.

“Digital India initiative is a way that helps in developing digital backbone for the country. Facilitating greater computing access can go a long way in enabling digitization of emerging economies,” Monali Handa, director, marketing, India and Asia-Pacific at NComputing, told ET.

The company sees a good opportunity in the government’s Smart City project, and said that the concept is aimed at addressing urbanization challenges by developing state-of-the-art infrastructure, and establishing access to e-services for citizens, including those in remote areas.

The NComputing technology, she said, is primarily focused on repurposing existing hardware, reducing eWaste and power consumption, and thereby contributing towards green computing initiatives, which it believes would certainly be the core requirement for establishing Smart Cities.

The company's desktop virtualization solutions enable organizations and institutions to set up a “green” computing infrastructure with cost-efficiency, hassle-free maintenance, emit significantly less CO2, and lead to 90% less eWaste compared to the traditional PC environment.
