Mysore has great potential to become major IT hub: Infosys founder Narayana Murthy
Murthy said the government and industrial establishments should mount an awareness campaign to bring major software companies to Mysore.
Delivering the keynote address at the inauguration of Mysore 2.0 Global IT - BPO Hub conference and expo organised by NASSCOM, he referred to the city's salubrious climate and environment.
"Mysore is a wonderful destination for any software company," Murthy said.
However, he regretted Mysore had not grown as per expectations of IT Industry.
Murthy said there was also some "failure" on his part along with leading city entrepreneurs in not trying to showcase the infrastructure available to attract big software companies.
He expressed happiness that Infosys has set up the world's largest IT Training Centre with added hi-tech infrastructure here in a 337-acre plot. He called on other entrepreneurs to make such an effort and put Mysore on the global map.
Murthy urged leaders of IT industry and entrepreneurs to hold a meeting with bureaucrats in an effort to make Mysore a leading IT sector.
A number of CEOs from various major IT companies presented their views on the challenges and opportunities of IT-BPO industries in Mysore during the day-long deliberations.
