Motif may buy US call centre

AHMEDABAD: BPO firm Motif is chalking out plans to have a global footprint. The company is planning to take over a US-based outsourcing firm and also set up a Rs 10-crore centre in Manila, Phillippines. The Manila centre will begin operations soon, however, the US buyout is expected to take over a month.

“The expansion plans are mainly to avoid geographical redundancy,” said Kaushal Mehta of Motif. The company is in talks for acquiring an outsourcing firm in US. After the buyout, the company is planning to shift those jobs to India, but will maintain a minimal presence in US.

Considering the huge cost of operating a centre in US, the work of the international clients will be outsourced to India.

"An array of BPO firms mushrooming across the country has increased competition. The companies are loosing clients due to lack of international presence and geographical redundancy," say experts.
