Mindtree developing platforms for niche requirements through Platform Services Group

BENGALURU: Mid-sized software firm Mindtree is trying to build its own industry-specific solutions through a newlyformed division called Platform Services Group, which will develop application platforms for various niche requirements, helping in quick customisation and deployment for customers.

“While the customer is clearly transitioning to more digital and cloud-based services, he will certainly continue using core applications such as ERP in the traditional way,” Chief executive Krishnakumar Natarajan told ET in an interview.

“However, we expect clients to start consuming all other non-core services in a utility model, similar to how they consume electricity or water.”

The new unit is headed by Gaurav Johri, who previously headed Mindtree’s banking, financial services and insurance unit. Mindtree has already developed three platforms under the new division.

“We have built a platform for trade promotions management for consumer product companies, a platform for corporate loan origination system for financial institutions and a platform for learning management system,” Natarajan said. He expects this division to contribute 10% of Mindtree’s revenue in next five years.
