MAIT wants single authorisation for e-waste disposal
Cos are finding disposal of e-Waste cumbersome because of the multiple authorisations that are required from different State Pollution Control Boards, the MAIT said.
The apex industry body representing the IT hardware, communication, training and R&D industries wants a single authorisation in place of the multiple authorisations that are currently required under the e-waste disposal guideline that came into effect in May 2012.
"The experience of old inspector Raj is beginning to be felt as our members are approaching individual State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) with diverse compliance requirements," said MAIT president, Alok Bharadwaj. The multiple authorisation leads to duplicity in data compilation, MAIT said in a statement.
"For the companies and SPCBs, this only adds to the administrative burden without adding any value addition. Single authorization will improve level of compliance among companies," it added.
Further, while submitting documents for authorization, companies are facing difficulties across different states as every state has different parameters for accepting applications. Some of states are demanding fees along with the applications, MAIT said.
