Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured to set up a committee to investigate forced layoffs in the IT sector.

Pune techies have been complaining of 'illegal' layoffs for quite some time.
Days after retrenchments in Pune's IT sector was highlighted in the state assembly, the Maharashtra government has decided to set up a committee to investigate the matter.

According to ET Now, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured to set up a committee to investigate forced layoffs in the IT sector, which has been in the limelight for quite a while.

Fadnavis also met members of FITE (Forum of IT employees) today.


After Bengaluru, Pune has the highest concentration of IT companies in India.

Pune techies have been complaining of 'illegal' layoffs for quite some time.

FITE, a Chennai-headquartered body, has even filed petitions against layoffs in Pune, Chennai and Hyderabad.

However, so far big IT companies have dismissed layoffs as routine outcome of annual performance appraisal process.
