Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah promises all help for IT, BT sectors expansion

BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said his government will provide all necessary infrastructure facilities for the growth and expansion of IT and BT sectors in the state.

After inaugurating the new facility of Capgemini here, he said, "I take this opportunity of reassuring the IT and BT sectors that the state government will not be found lagging in providing the necessary infrastructure facilities for their growth and expansion. We will do all that is necessary for the IT sector to flourish."

"I will always be available for solving any issue that the industry may have with state government," he said.

He said the state's IT sector, which contributes over one-third of IT exports of the country, has given jobs to over 10 lakh and is instrumental in creating about 30 lakh indirect jobs, would continue to thrive in Karnataka.

During 2013-14, 175 units set up operations investing $1.4 billion and with an employment potential of 55,000, he said, adding Bengaluru will continue to be the preferred destination for IT, Research and Development vis-a-vis Startups.

Capgemini, a provider of consulting, technology and outsourcing services, today inaugurated a new facility at Whitefield, here.

The new facility, spread across 4.6 lakh sq. ft, offers a seating capacity of 5000 seats and is expected to offer an array of service offerings including Application Development & Management (ADM), Infrastructure Services, BPO and Consulting Services, the company said.
