IT turnover in Kerala to touch $1 bn this fiscal

The IT turnover in Kerala is expected to touch $ 1 billion in 2010-11 fiscal, Dr Ajay Kumar, the state IT Principal Secretary, said today.

KOCHI: The IT turnover in Kerala is expected to touch $ 1 billion in 2010-11 fiscal, Dr Ajay Kumar, the state IT Principal Secretary, said today.

Kerala IT infrastructure is in the process of witnessing multi fold increase, he said speaking at a conference here on Urban Infrastructure titled 'INFRACON' organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and CREDAI, Kochi.

Within a year, the number of IT parks in the state will increase from 2 to 10 for which the government would make an invstment of rs 2500 crore and another rs 7500 crore is expected from the private sector. This would provide direct employment to approximately 2.5 lakh people. The biggest constraint in the growth of IT industry in the state is lack of basic infrastructure, he said.

Kuldip Singh, well known deisgner and town planner said the government has to ensure town planning in all the cities.

P Ganesh, Chairman, CII Kerala said the conference has provided the SWOT analysis of the infrastrucutre scenario in kerala.
