Infosys sacks employee who encouraged others to spread coronavirus on social media

On Thursday, there was social media outrage after the employee, a senior architect at Infosys, had put a post that promoted spreading the virus. Infosys had said it had begun a probe.

"The social media post by the employee is against Infosys’ code of conduct and its commitment to responsible social sharing. Infosys has a zero tolerance policy towards such acts and has accordingly, terminated the services of the employee," it said.
Infosys on Friday said it has sacked an employee who has shared a social media post that sought to promote spreading the coronavirus.

"We believe that this is not a case of mistaken identity," Infosys said on its official Twitter handle.

"The social media post by the employee is against Infosys’ code of conduct and its commitment to responsible social sharing. Infosys has a zero tolerance policy towards such acts and has accordingly, terminated the services of the employee," it said.

The Bengaluru police has also lodged an FIR accusing him of creating alarm and fear among the public.
