Infosys reorganises self to streamline internal functions
BENGALURU | MUMBAI: Infosys is streamlining the way it functions internally, with chief executive Vishal Sikka making communications lines and delivery responsibilities clearer with a target to shorten the time taken to execute projects.

Each of its verticals offering services to industries like banking and financial services, manufacturing, retail and energy will get dedicated points of contact in the various service lines the company has, such as cloud and application management. Sikka has also created vertical-specific delivery leads, or executives who would be responsible for completion of projects, and, for the first time, a chief information officer to lead infrastructure, data centre and data privacy functions.

The moves could help the company react quicker to customer requirements and deliver services. New technologies have changed the way IT firms do business. IT contracts aren’t won on basis of fleshed-out request-for-proposals anymore, but on proofof-concepts that need various functions to work closely and come up with ideas and solutions quickly. Having clear communications channels within the organisation will help reduce delays

Six months into his stint, Sikka said he believes the company has opportunities to win business with clients but must, first, increase the company’s connection to them. “To be able to rise up to these opportunities and deliver, we must focus on organising ourselves to serve this greater need for innovation, and to be able to minimise our distance to reality,” Sikka said in an email to employees.

ET has seen a copy of his mail to staff. Infosys didn’t respond to an email seeking comment. Steps are likely to help the company accelerate its time to market efforts and generate efficiencies.
