Infosys R&D head Subrahmanyam Goparaju quits
BANGALORE: Subrahmanyam Goparaju, senior vice president and head of Infosys Labs, the research unit of Infosys, India’s second-largest software services provider, has resigned, the company said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday.

Goparaju’s exit follows several senior-level departures from Infosys since co-founder NR Narayana Murthy returned to the company in June as the executive chairman, in bid to get the company’s growth back on track.

Raju, who has been with Infosys for nearly 25 years, headed the Intellectual Property Cell and was responsible for the company's research and development strategy.

Infosys had reduced the R&D unit’s headcount from about 600 to about 200 over the last few months, Sudin Apte, CEO & Research Director of outsourcing advisory firm Offshore Insights told ET on Thursday. An Infosys spokeswoman declined to comment. .

Murthy, 67, has been making a series of changes at Infosys, including cutting costs at on-site work locations, shifting focus to winning large outsourcing projects.

While Infosys global sales head Basab Pradhan quit in July, the company’s global manufacturing head Ashok Vemuri resigned in August to join rival iGate as CEO. Stephen Pratt, who co-founded Infosys consulting, had stepped down last month.
