Infosys interested in opening IT centre in Gujarat

The Infosys mentor is slated to meet the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and is likely to discuss the company's plans to set up a centre in the state.

AHMEDABAD: Infosys, the nation's second largest software exporter, has evinced interest in opening an IT centre in Gujarat.

"We are yet to get land, once the Gujarat government takes a decision, and I am sure that they will, we would look at the possibility of starting a centre here," Infosys Chairman and Chief Mentor N R Narayan Murthy said here today.

Murthy was here to attend the first convocation of Ahmedabad University.

The Infosys mentor is slated to meet the Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and is likely to discuss the company's plans to set up a centre in the state.

"A senior executive of Infosys has met us on a couple of occasions to explore the possibility of setting up a centre here," a top state official said.

"We are not providing land at concessional rates to anyone," he added.
