Karnataka govt has cleared three major IT projects planned by Infosys to set up more campuses here at an investment of Rs 1,918 crore.

BENGALURU: IT giant Infosys has received the Karnataka government's approval to invest $290 million (Rs 1,918 crore) on three campuses -one at Electronic City and the other two at Konappana Agrahara in Bengaluru South taluk. The software major said the three proposals will together create about 27,000 jobs Karnataka's high-level clearance committee on industry, chaired by chief minister Siddaramaiah and attended among others by IT minister SR Patil, cleared the proposal on Saturday.

The company, according to the IT minister's office, will invest Rs 625 crore in its 10.04 acre plot at Konappana Agrahara in the Doddatogur area where it plans to generate 8,500 jobs. In the same area, the company has planned a software technology park with an investment of Rs 1,079 crore. The park is expected to employ about 15,000 people.

The firm also wants to invest about Rs 216 crore at its Electronic City campus which is expected to open 3,500 new positions.
