Infosys, India’s second largest software services exporter, opened a new delivery centre in Araraquara, Brazil, joining peers who are expanding their footprint in Latin America.

The new 100-seat centre in Brazil will initially house 25 employees and provide services around SAP AG's business management software to orange juice producer Citrosuco, the company said in a statement.

Bangalore-based Infosys currently has over 1,700 staff in the region, with a presence in Brazil, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Argentina.

The 550 square metre centre will deliver application management services, including SAP ERP systems, for Citrosuco and other clients across Brazil. Infosys set up operations in Brazil in 2009. The company and its subsidiaries employ over 700 people in the country, the statement said.

Over the past few quarters, India’s top IT services companies Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro have been expanding their presence in the Latin American market, which functions as a near-shore centre to serve their large clients in the US.
