Infosys BPOwalas to take bus

BANGALORE: Seems some BPOs had enough of employee pampering.

BANGALORE: Seems some BPOs had enough of employee pampering. According to a leading IT news site, the Bangalore-based BPO Progeon has discontinued cab services for its day employees.

The day employees would now take company buses to work from now on, while those in the night services will be provided cab services.

The report quotes a Progeon spokesperson saying that the company has recently replaced day-time cabs with buses that ply from designated stops while night time (8 pm onwards) pick and drop continues by cabs. We believe that buses during day time enable larger groups of our employees to travel to work together and arrive on time as well as also help reduce congestion on the roads, adds the spokesperson.

The decision is possibly a cost-cutting measure taken by the company which was recently acquired by the IT leader Infosys Technologies according to the report.

The leading provider of Business Process Management (BPM) services to Global 1000 companies, Progeon was among the top 10 third-party BPOs in India in the NASSCOM 2004-05 rankings. It has over 7,000 employees as of March 31, 2006.
