HP govt to set up IT park to boost economy

Seeking to enhance its economic growth by having non-polluting industries, Himachal Pradesh government is planning to set up an IT park based on private public partnership (PPP) model over 65 acres of land in Solan district.

NEW DELHI: Seeking to enhance its economic growth by having non-polluting industries, Himachal Pradesh government is planning to set up an IT park based on private public partnership (PPP) model over 65 acres of land in Solan district.

"After making a mark in health, education and macro economy, the government is initiating to enhance its economic growth by inviting green and non polluting industries in which the IT sector occupies a high priority," B K Agarwal, Principal Secretary (IT) of state said.

He was speaking at a stakeholders meet attended by reputed IT companies aimed to generate employment in the state.

Explaining the concept of the IT Park, Agarwal said to facilitate the developer and end-users, the government shall create basic infrastructure of approach road, dedicated water and electricity supply at a cost of more than Rs 50 crore, for which work has started.
