Hexaware Tech bags multi-yr order from Japanese firm

MUMBAI: IT and BPO service provider, Hexaware Technologies on Monday said it has bagged a multi-year order from a Japanese system integrator for IT modernisation of the postal department of a South East Asian country.
The first phase of the deal, which is worth 18 million dollar (around Rs 73.04 crore), has been signed, Hexaware said in a communique to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
"Almost 20 per cent of the company's Asia Pacific (APAC) region revenues are generated from Japan and are likely to double over the next four to six quarters," Hexaware Technologies Senior Vice President-APAC region Yogendra Shah said.
Hexaware, however, did not mention any other details of the contract in the filing.
This is the first core application development of its kind for the postal department or in the logistics domain for the company and is the largest ever APAC deal, it added.
"Deals such as this give us the necessary encouragement to continue building on our understanding of Japanese business and appreciation of their culture and language, which proved to be a real advantage in winning the deal," Shah added.
Hexaware is likely to deploy over 150 software developers for this multi-year logistics engagement.
In the last 15 months, Hexaware has opened new sales offices in Thailand, Sydney, Melbourne and Hong Kong. Besides it has significant market penetration in Singapore, Malaysia and Japan and has 20 active clients in the APAC region.
