Hexaware recasts business structure

IT firm Hexaware Technologies has revamped its organisation structure along with its major industry focus areas, financial services, travel and transportation, and emerging markets.

MUMBAI: IT firm Hexaware Technologies has revamped its organisation structure along with its major industry focus areas, financial services, travel and transportation, and emerging markets.

The emerging markets group will include manufacturing, healthcare and other growing areas. With this exercise, the company is trying to move away from being only a provider of technology services to becoming more closely aligned with the industries it serves.

Apart from this, FocusFrame, the testing company it acquired earlier but which has been functioning with a separate sales team, will now be closely integrated with Hexawares own testing practice and come under a single-umbrella group, business technology optimisation (BTO).

It will also integrate FocusFrame with its own testing practice. So far, FocusFrame has been functioning as a separate entity. In terms of functioning, it will focus on building competencies in these areas and be more selective in taking on projects outside of them.

The goal to restructure the organisation and make it more business focussed was one of the first intiatives outlined by PR Chandrasekar after he took over as CEO and vice-chariman in June this year.

The verticals (industry focus areas) will define the clients we go after. We know we need to build competencies in these areas, said Mr Chandrasekar. Each industry group will function as a separate profit centre and have its own profit and loss account.

The company has recruited two industry veterans, Deepak Rao and Anirban Chakraborty, to head the financial services and the emerging markets group, respectively.

Mr Rao was earlier with Siemens Information Systems as vice-president financial services, responsible growth in the US, the UK and India. Mr Chakraborty was earlier with Tata Consultancy Services, heading its life sciences practice in North America.
