HCL Tech plans training academy
Highlights
The company has already procured about 20 acres of land in Manesar for this, sources said. It is also looking at another such facility in southern India either in Kodaikanal or Ooty. HCL is looking for land anywhere between 25-50 acres in Southern India.
The driving factor behind the proposed training academy is that training needs a separate treatment (from core business), and a separate ambiance, sources pointed out.
The Academy is expected to be operational by the end of 2008, sources added. Training of tech professionals is a critical area for IT companies. Infosys Technologies, in 2005, built a training facility for its IT professionals, in Mysore. The campus is spread over 325 acres and can train 4500 professionals at any given point of time.
This takes its annual capacity to close to 13000-14000 professionals. Infosys has pumped in close to $300 million in the Mysore campus. Infosys annual training spent is about $140 million.
