Google, Jordan seal $10 million deal

Jordan says it has sealed a $10 million agreement with Google, allowing it to use the world's leading Internet search engine for advertising.

AMMAN: Jordan says it has sealed a $10 million agreement with Google, allowing it to use the world's leading Internet search engine for advertising.

Under the deal, Google will reinvest 25 percent of the amount back into the nascent Jordanian information technology sector, including digital media start ups and training students in online advertising.

Technology Minister Marwan Jumaa said Tuesday the deal will ``go a long away'' in boosting the sector through the transfer of knowledge from Google.

Google's Vice President Carlo D'Asaro Biondo said the deal will give Jordan far greater digital exposure.

Jordan has been seeking to attract technology investment for the last few years, partly to boost the sector's share of the GDP.
